History of Brookyn Pharmacy

Brooklyn Pharmacy is one of the oldest independent pharmacies in Oregon, opening in 1897. Over 125 years ago! There have been 5 owners in Brooklyn's lifetime. A partnership between Paul Brinkman and Mr. Siebert from 1897 to 1964 when the pharmacy was located at what is now the AM/PM gas station. In 1964, Russ Miller and Mike Dardis bought Brooklyn Pharmacy and moved to what is now Rose City Coffee Shop. Mike Dardis would later take full ownership in 1970, staying at the same location until 1992, when he moved to where the pharmacy is today. Brooklyn Pharmacy has been a family pharmacy since it's creation, Mike would have all of his children and grandchildren work/help in the pharmacy. Mike' youngest daughter, Kelly, has worked the longest at the pharmacy, totaling over 30 years- 5 years as a technician/clerk and 25 years (and counting) as a pharmacist. Mike's grandson, Alec (Kelly's son) has also been working at Brooklyn for over 10 years. Pat and his wife Kim bought the pharmacy from Mike in 2017 and continued to work with Kelly/Alec to this day. After Pat and Kim bought the pharmacy they added new services like; deliveries, immunization, compounding (pet/human), and a wide variety of OTC products. They also fully remodeled the pharmacy in 2017 that took over a year to complete. Brooklyn has always been involved in the neighborhood and community, currently partnering with others to raise money through a bottle drive for Brooklyn Park! In 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic, Brooklyn Pharmacy introduced it's first comfort K9, Hal, who continues to brighten his patient's day whenever he is in the pharmacy.
